What is BeautiFill Laser Lipo?

BeautiFill is a cutting-edge laser lipolysis and autologous fat transfer system that combines the benefits of traditional liposuction and modern laser technology. This innovative procedure is designed to efficiently harvest live fat cells from areas with excess fat, such as the abdomen, thighs, or buttocks, and then reimplant them into areas where volume is desired, like the face, breasts, or hands.

Why Choose BeautiFill at Vitology Med Spa?

Precision and Safety: BeautiFill’s laser technology ensures precise fat removal with minimal risk. The laser gently loosens the fat cells while coagulating blood vessels, resulting in less bruising and swelling compared to traditional liposuction.

Effectiveness:

Unlike other fat transfer techniques, BeautiFill’s system ensures a high viability rate of fat cells, enhancing the longevity and quality of the results. This means more predictable outcomes and satisfying, natural-looking volume enhancements.

Minimal Downtime:

One of the significant advantages of opting for BeautiFill Laser Lipo is the minimal downtime involved. Most of our patients return to their daily activities within a day or two, making it a perfect choice for those who lead busy lives but want effective cosmetic results.

Long-Lasting Results:

By using your body’s natural fat, BeautiFill provides results that not only look natural but also last longer than synthetic fillers. This integration of natural body tissue helps prevent complications associated with foreign materials.

Ideal Candidates for BeautiFill

BeautiFill is ideal for individuals who are close to their ideal weight but have specific areas where stubborn fat lingers. It’s also perfect for those who want to rejuvenate or augment other body areas naturally without the use of synthetic materials. Physicians are Raving About the Benefits of Pairing truSculpt iD and truSculpt flex Treatments

Non-invasive body sculpting is a billion-dollar industry that is expected to reach $9.1 billion by 2024.¹ In particular, body and muscle sculpting are rising in popularity among individuals who realize that diet and exercise alone are not producing the body they truly desire. In a recent clinical study, several patients received paired treatments with truSculpt® iD, which induces lipolysis, along with truSculpt® flex, which promotes muscle strengthening, toning, and firming.

According to New York City dermatologist Neil S. Sadick, MD, founder and President of Sadick Dermatology and a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Weill Cornell Medical College,

We can now offer a complete body sculpting solution in a simple treatment protocol. The results are comprehensive body contouring.2

The success of this new protocol is attributed to using truSculpt iD, the first FDA cleared RF device for lipolysis, in conjunction with truSculpt flex, the only bio-electrical muscle stimulation device with multi-directional stimulation to facilitate muscle sculpting.

Stephen J. Ronan, MD, who is a Danville, CA-based plastic surgeon, explains that “truSculpt iD uses multiple 2 MHz monopolar RF handpieces to selectively target and increase the temperature of subcutaneous fat without excessively increasing the temperature in the dermis.” He further explains that “a truSculpt iD treatment takes just 15 minutes, and results are typically achieved after one session. Fat apoptosis occurs post-treatment for up to 60 days, with peak fat cell death seen at 30 days.” Accordingly, in Dr. Ronan’s practice, an average fat reduction of 23.5% is typically observed after a single 15-minute treatment3. Moreover, truSculpt iD offers versatility with six handpieces, enabling physicians to treat more body areas in less time. This device makes it far more convenient and slightly less expensive in terms of disposables. It’s fast, reliable, and user-friendly. RF is colorblind, so it can be used on all skin types, all year round. Dr. Ronan says.² Another key feature of truSculpt iD is that the procedure is relatively painless and comfortable for the patients.

David J. Goldberg, MD, JD, the Director at Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of NY/NJ, supports these statements by mentioning that fat reduction technologies have made great strides as “twelve years ago, we saw the beginning of non-invasive fat reduction with CoolSculpting. We have also seen advances and multiple devices cleared since then, such as SculpSure and Vanquish, along with multiple other devices.” He further states that

Michael Karavitis, Ph.D., who is the EVP and CTO of Cutera, led the development of the novel muscle sculpting device, the truSculpt flex. Dr. Karavitis indicates that this unique and new technology has several distinct advantages when compared to other competitive devices, as unlike other electro-magnetic muscle stimulation devices, truSculpt flex provides a uniform distribution of bio-electrical current directly to motor neurons to induce intense muscle contractions with low energy levels. As a result, the maximum intensity will never reach 100%. What this means for the practices is that the doctor can continually challenge the targeted muscles as the patient becomes stronger, resulting in better muscle sculpting over time. He also says that

handpiece placement is simple, and we can treat eight body areas at one time, which significantly increased patient throughput of truSculpt flex over other devices on the market.”²

Michael Somenek, MD, a facial plastic surgeon in Washington, DC., states that

the benefits of truSculpt flex compared to other muscle toning devices on the market is it can treat more areas per session, and the treatment takes just 45 minutes.
Dr. Somenek’s practice was the first site in the US to begin using truSculpt iD paired with truSculpt flex. He states, “the ultimate goal in non-invasive body sculpting is to target fat and stimulate the muscle.” “These two devices are complimentary and pairing truSculpt iD and truSculpt flex clearly demonstrates the benefits of utilizing both devices.”²
Dr. Somenek performs one iD treatment, followed by a series of four to six truSculpt flex treatments, administered twice a week for two to three weeks, to generate intense contractions in the treated area. Most patients begin seeing results after eight weeks, with maximum improvements visible at twelve weeks. He offers truSculpt flex maintenance sessions for a booster treatment once every three months to consistently stimulate the area. “These results can be maintained for the long term,” he adds.²

Christopher Asandra, MD, the medical director of AsandraMD in Beverly Hills, CA, explains that integrating and marketing truSculpt® flex as well as truSculpt flex has been quite easy, as he sparks the interests of both existing and prospective patients using e-blasts and social media. He also emphasizes the importance of using social media to show the actual procedures, where he demonstrates how quick, effective, and painless the procedures are by posting videos of satisfied, consenting patients and even staff members receiving treatments. Dr. Asandra suggests that “treating your staff also gives them a better understanding of what your patients will be experiencing, in turn enabling them to provide better care.” He says that the return on investment has been incredible, and as awareness, as well as excitement regarding body contouring, steadily increases, the demand for this type of paired treatment will continue to boom.

Compelling Study Confirms Hydrafacial Clinically Proven to Clear Acne After 12 Weeks

Hydafacial is now clinically reported to improve acne skin concerns, according to a study published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology (JCAD).

The study entitled, “Efficacy and Tolerability of Hydrafacial Clarifying Treatment Series in the Treatment of Active Acne Vulgaris,” revealed that 100% of study participants reported clearer, less inflamed skin after receiving a series of clarifying treatments with Hydrafacial’s vortex fusion device and blue LED light.

During the 12 week assessment, study participants, ranging from age 19-48 with varied skin tones, received a clarifying Hydrafacial treatment from a trained esthetician every two weeks. All participants experiences significant improvement in acne severity, finding they have fewer acne lesions and cleaner, less inflamed skin.  The participants also reported a significant boost in confidence in their appearance at the conclusion of the study, growing from 40% feeling more confident after their first facial, to 100% after their final treatment.

Barbie Tox: Summer’s New Medical Aesthetics Trend

Each summer starts with the anticipation of a series of events that compel people to look their best, including family gatherings, beach vacations and, especially, weddings. There are, of course, numerous things people can do to address some aspects of their appearance, but obtaining and maintaining slender trapezius muscles, which helps to lengthen the look of the neck, has long been an elusive goal, especially because working out tends to make the trapezius more pronounced.

But an emerging trend, colloquially known as “Barbie tox” or “trap tox,” offers patients a solution to trapezius muscles they think are too large. This procedure is taking TikTok by storm and helping people obtain the looks they want for the summer season, and while it’s a somewhat unconventional use of established technologies, it is a relatively simple way to expand your medical spa’s treatment menu. What’s more, if your practice already offers injectables, you likely already have everything you need to get started with trap tox procedures.

What’s the story?

Barbie tox is exactly what it sounds like: Neurotoxin—such as Botox, Dysport or Xeomin—is injected into the trapezius muscles to paralyze or weaken them. And while the aesthetic benefits of this treatment are what has made it popular, it offers several additional benefits.

“Over the past year, you saw it trending on TikTok and social media, particularly for women wanting to slim their shoulder line—that is to say, wanting to see more of a ‘swan-like’ silhouette from their neck to their shoulders,” says Ali Patek, APRN, FNP-C, of SkinSpirit in Austin, Texas. “It also offers the added benefit of helping with muscle tension and pain relief, especially for people who sit at a desk all day and have their head down. It’s even good for injectors—we carry a lot of tension in our necks. It offers cosmetic appeal and functional appeal. But I think it’s became popular in the last year for the cosmetic side of it.” These neurotoxins are not specifically approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for injection into the trapezius muscles but using them for off-label purposes generally allowed, if the prescribing practitioner and injector have the appropriate, scope of practice, training and skill and obtain patient consent.

“The biggest thing to remember with Botox is that you’re paralyzing or weakening a muscle, so you’re causing muscle atrophy,” Patek says. “That’s very important to talk about, especially for someone who holds tension and pain there.”

Trapezius touch-up

Patek not only performs Barbie tox treatments, but also undergoes the procedure herself. In addition to improving the way her neck looks, weakening her traps helps guide her fitness routine.

“I was a cheerleader all my life, so my traps are pretty enlarged,” she says. “The first time I treated them, at first I was like, ‘I don’t know if I like this,’ because you need to definitely explain to someone who has overworked those muscles that you’re going to be weakening them. I work out all the time, and, in a sense, it was a good thing because I was then not able to overuse my traps anymore because they were weakened. I had to use my core more, as well as my rhomboids—those muscles that help improve your posture. But, for someone who lifts a lot of weights and works out all the time, you’ll definitely want to have a conversation about how you’re weakening those muscles, and it can cause some instability there when it is first kicking in.”

Patek recommends applying a low dosage of neurotoxin while performing trap tox procedures; this is particularly important when a patient is just beginning a course of treatment.

“Dosing-wise, go low and slow; the patient can always come back and get more,” Patek says. “You don’t want the patient to have any instability in their neck or anything like that, because the trap itself is a huge muscle that starts through your neck and runs all the way down your back. Typically, when you’re injecting it, you’re targeting the upper medial portion, so that you don’t cause any instability, but that muscle is responsible for flexion and extension of your neck, as well as lateral movement. So, you definitely want to be careful where you’re injecting, know your limits and stay in your lane when you’re treating people who have chronic pain and other issues.”

And because the trapezius muscles are far different than the facial muscles many injectors are used to treating, and the size varies from person to person, it is important to adjust dosing and treatment frequency with them in mind.

“I do anywhere from like 30 to 50 units per side, and then bring the patient back in after about three weeks to reassess, take photos and those kinds of things, if it’s for cosmetic purposes,” Patek says. “Typically, you do see that it lasts a little bit longer than your face injection neurotoxin—most people can get anywhere from three to six months out of it. You definitely don’t want to overtreat it, so, I would say, doing it twice a year is ideal as far as frequency.”

Patek also recommends using a longer needle than an injector would typically use for a facial injection, in order to properly target the much larger trapezius muscles. It is also important to make sure that the same treatment is applied to the trapezius muscles on both sides, to maintain balance. If the injection is conducted with care, side effects should be minimal.

“The biggest side effects or risks are going to be any weakness or imbalances,” says Patek. “Targeting that upper trap area is going to be where you’re safest. You want to stay away from the medial portion at the back of the neck, just so you don’t cause any issues with them being able to hold their neck up.”

Adding to the toolbox

Patek says that Barbie tox offers a noticeable change in appearance, particularly when patients are wearing dresses, which makes it a great addition to a medical spa’s menu during the summer months, when people are trying to get in shape for weddings and other formal occasions.

“I could definitely tell a difference in pictures,” she says. “I look smaller, in a sense, because you see more definition from my neck to my shoulder line. That silhouette is, for some, a more attractive silhouette.”

Trap tox is still a relatively new, emerging treatment, particularly when it comes to aesthetics, so offering this service could help your medical aesthetics practice stand out from the competition. It also offers patients results that they simply cannot get anywhere else, so many are willing to pay a premium for it.

“I think it’s a great treatment that we’ve been able to add to our toolbox,” Patek says. “Obviously, the dosing is a little bit higher than if you were injecting in other areas, so it definitely is going to be pricier, but people who want it for a wedding or something like that are probably willing to spend the money, honestly.”
